The Snohomish County PUD will be holding a groundbreaking and “building-smashing” ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the site of a planned office and operations facility just north of Mountlake Terrace. The event is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m.

The publicly-owned utility company is set to build a $7.8 million facility at 21020-63rd St. S.W. in Lynnwood, home of the former HMC Industries Building. The new PUD complex, once completed, will replace two facilities, a customer service office at 21018 Highway 99 in Edmonds and the utility’s operational center near Halls Lake in Mountlake Terrace.

Snohomish County PUD is the second-largest publicly-owned utility in the state, serving 320,000 electric customers and 20,000 water customers in Snohomish County and Camano Island.
