From the Publisher’s Desk: MLTnews seeking editor

Teresa-Wippel-bestIt’s been more than two years since I acquired MLTnews.com from founder Dustin DeKoekkoek, and I am proud to say that the site continues to grow, both in terms of readership and advertising. For the past two years, we have also been fortunate to have a fine editor, Doug Petrowski, who has kept the community where he has lived for numerous years abreast of the latest happenings in Mountlake Terrace and Brier.

I’m sad to say that at the end of this week, Doug is leaving his job as MLTnews editor. That means we are actively looking for someone to fill Doug’s shoes, as soon as possible.

This is a part-time freelance (contractor) job that requires someone who has both a solid understanding of journalistic practices and a passion for the Mountlake Terrace community. Photography and social media skills are also a plus.

If this describes you — or someone you know — please send an email to teresa@myedmondsnews.com that includes a brief description of why you would be a good fit as editor of MLTnews. A resume and writing samples also would be much appreciated.

Since Mountlake Terrace lost its regular source of community news with the closure of the Weekly Herald (formerly the Enterprise) newspaper nearly two years ago, It’s important to me personally that we continue to provide Mountlake Terrace with information that matters to you.

  1. Doug’s shoes will be hard to fill. Doug did a great job and felt like he was everywhere that news was breaking. Good luck Doug in your new endeavors and good luck Theresa in filling those shoes. – Seaun Richards

  2. I just want to echo what Seaun wrote. Doug seemed to be everywhere in the community and did an outstanding job. Best wishes Doug and thank you for all of your hard work!!
