The public is invited to participate in a free swim during a Lifeguard Demonstration/Exhibition at the Mountlake Terrace Pavilion pool on Friday, June 6, from 4:30-6 p.m. Lifeguards will practice real-time rescues while swimmers are in the pool — more swimmers help make the training more realistic for lifeguards.
During the demonstration/exhibition, lifeguards will perform basic rescues in the water on other lifeguards who will be posing as troubled swimmers. They will also respond to first aid scenarios and practice clearing the pool as in the case of a real emergency.
Lifeguards at Mountlake Terrace Pool train monthly on a variety of subjects including emergency procedures, first aid, CPR/AED situations, breathing emergencies, and injury management. The Lifeguard Demonstration/Exhibition is just one of the components used to continually train lifeguards on their skills.
Admission to this special swim session is free to the first 120 participants. The Mountlake Terrace Recreation Pavilion is located at 5303-228th St. S.W.
