The Mountlake Terrace City Council will consider the 2015 Comprehensive Plan update at a Public Hearing during its June 1 meeting, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace Interim City Hall, 6100 219th Street SW, Suite 220, second floor.
The public hearing will remain open for additional comments until June 15. This review and update of the Comprehensive Plan is due in mid-2015.
The purpose of the Plan is to ensure it reflects the community’s vision, has identified goals and policies to achieve that vision and is consistent with state laws. The current update is to cover the next 20-year planning period, 2015-2035, and is therefore considered a “major update”.
The City Council determined that since the existing Comprehensive Plan was already in good shape and generally consistent with state law it did not need major revisions to its goals, policies or land use designations.
The public is invited to learn about the proposed updates and provide comment at any of the upcoming meetings. In addition, display materials and other information about the proposed Plan update can be viewed between 6:30–7 p.m. in the Council Chambers prior to any upcoming meeting where the Comprehensive Plan is on the agenda.
Public comments are encouraged and welcome. Written comments must be received by 4 p.m. on the day of the Planning Commission or City Council hearings.
Copies of the proposed draft updates to the Comprehensive Plan elements are posted on a special website for the 2015 major update at www.cityofmlt.com/majorupdate.
