The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission presents prints by local artist Mona T. Smiley-Fairbanks during the month of December at the Mountlake Terrace Library.
“My work reflects the Pacific Northwest landscape and navigates between lamenting and celebrating our natural world,” said Smiley-Fairbanks. “I seek to express the concern for our waning environment while documenting its dynamic resiliency.”
“I am curious to push the art of print making by using the classic techniques in untraditional ways and accepting the accidents as my own magic,” she added. “The tools and scavenged printing surfaces become just as important as the finished piece. I include images such as maps, wallpaper and wood from my history as well.”
The show runs through Dec. 31 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave./ W., Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Fridays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m.
The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission oversees library art exhibits as part of its mission to promote cultural events in the community.
