With a dramatic come-from-behind win in the night’s final match, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks wrestling team defeated the Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks 42-36 to complete a sweep of their double dual Tuesday night at Mountlake Terrace High School.
In addition to the six-point victory over M-P, the Hawks earned a win over the visiting Marysville-Getchell Chargers 47-30 earlier in the evening.

Eight Hawks picked up victories over their Marysville-Getchell opponents in the first match of the night, leading to a comfortable team win over the Chargers. But the win over the Tomahawks wasn’t secured until the final match pitting Hawk Mujtaba Abosabaa against Pilchuck’s Denis Senyak.
With the team score knotted at 36-36, the Abosabaa and Senyak met in the 126-pound weight class match. Senyak led 5-2 after the first period, but Abosabaa picked up a key takedown early in the second period, closing the gap to 5-4. Less than a minute later Abosabaa was able to roll Senyak over in the middle of the mat and get all his weight centered on Senyak’s chest, resulting in a pin.

Abosabaa used a defeat earlier in the evening in a match against Anthony LaBrake of Marysville-Pilchuck as motivation for his match-up with Senyak. “Well, I really wanted to win because I lost my first match,” he confessed. “Throughout the whole match I felt like there’s no way I could lose, I’ve got to win. So I never gave up.”
The Hawk bench erupted in joy when Abosabaa turned his match around and pinned Senyak for the win.
A number of Hawks won both their matches in the double dual, including Gene An (120-pound class), Pavel Oliferosky (145-pound class), Mattias Kirk (152-pound class), Chaplyn Mack (160-pound class), Lex Davis (182-pound class), Eric Breznen (195-pound class) and Ilia Wilson (285-pound class).
The meet was broadcast on the Sound Live Sports Network. You can watch a replay here.
The Hawks head to La Center for the Wildcat Invite this Saturday, Dec. 12. First matches are scheduled for 10 a.m.
