Two Edmonds School District student athletes won individual state titles on Friday – and both will be looking for more on Saturday – at the State Track and Field Championships at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma.

Meadowdale senior Christapherson Grant took the 3A Boys 110 meter hurdles title as he outran the field in a time of 14.41. Earlier in the day Grant had posted the top time in preliminary heats of the 300 hurdles and will be going for that state title on Saturday.

Grant’s teammate Harry White will also run in the 300 hurdles final, just slipping into the field with a time of 40.54.

Mountlake Terrace’s Chinne Okoronkwo won the 3A girls long jump on Friday with a leap of 18-00.00. The junior returns to action on Saturday as she competes in both the 3A girls triple jump and pole vault.

Lynnwood’s Jordyn Edwards will also be looking for an individual title – or two – on Saturday. Edwards posted the top time of 55.56 in preliminary heats for the 3A girls 400 meter dash on Friday; she also ran the second-fastest time of 25.47 in preliminary heats of the 200 dash. The junior will compete in both finals of the 200 and the 400 on Saturday.

Ella Spillane of Edmonds-Woodway wasn’t so lucky in the 3A Girls 400 dash preliminary heats as her 1:02.37 didn’t qualify her for the finals.

Mountlake Terrace’s McKenna Hunt closed out her prep sports career with a fourth place in the finals of the 3A Ggirls 100 hurdles on Friday. Hunt competed at the state meet all four years of her high school career; in addition to her fourth place in the 100 hurdles this year, she finished second in the event as a junior and fourth as a sophomore; McKenna also picked up a seventh place finish in the 300 hurdles as a freshman.

Sophomore Rita Sakharov of Lynnwood will be in the finals of this year’s 3A girls 300 hurdles on Saturday as she made the field with a time of 46.09, fifth-fastest in preliminary heats.

Michael Liddell of Mountlake Terrace placed fifth in the 3A boys long jump with his career best leap of 21-05.75.

In the 3A girls discus, Mountlake Terrace’s Hailee Malins finished seventh with a toss of 120-11; the junior gets another chance for an individual state medal as she will compete in the shot put on Saturday.

The Edmonds-Woodway girls 4 by 100 relay team of Molly Carden, Fatou Jatta, Ella Spillane and Selina Ballard qualified for their finals with a 50.29 time in their preliminary heat on Friday. The 3A Girls 4 by 100 relay will be run on Saturday.

Also qualifying for final events on Saturday were Lynnwood’s Mikayla Pivec and Mountlake Terrace’s Jessica Ong, as both posted times fast enough to get into the 3A girls 800 race. Pivec had the fourth-fasted time of the field with a 2:14.25; Ong grabbed the last spot in the finals with a time of 2:16.38.
