After a loss to Everett earlier in the week, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks bounced back on Thursday and defeated the visiting Arlington Eagles 9-4 in a Wesco League matchup played at Mountlake Terrace High School.

Sophomore Jazz Zenk led a Terrace attack that pounded out 12 hits in the game. Zenk went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and 4 RBI’s. Teammate Sammy Ruiz added a home run among her pair of hits; Kira Doan, Gabby Calhoun and Ashley Fitzgerald also picked up two hits each in the game.

Doan went the distance on the mound for the Hawks, scattering nine hits, striking out six Eagles and issuing three walks.

With the victory, Terrace moved into third place in the Wesco League South Conference just ahead of idle Glacier Peak.

In other Terrace sports on Thursday, the boys and girls track teams traveled to Everett’s Memorial Stadium to take on two 4A teams, the Jackson Timberwolves and the Mariner Marauders. Thursday’s meet served as a warm up for the Hawks, which host one of the biggest meets in the area on Saturday — the Terrace Invite — with 18 schools scheduled to compete. The meet, held at Edmonds Stadium, is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.

In boys golf, the four Edmonds School District teams teed off against each other at Lynnwood Golf Course Thursday. The Meadowdale Mavericks captured the event with a team score of 387, eight strokes better than second place Mountlake Terrace. The Hawks’ Mike Jenson took medalist honors with a three-over-par 68.
