The red-hot Mountlake Terrace Hawks softball team, winners of five of their last six games, got cooled down Friday as the visiting Glacier Peak Grizzlies upended the Hawks 13-5 at Mountlake Terrace High School.
The Grizzlies pounded out 17 hits on their way to the victory. Bella MacMillan led GP Friday by going 5-for-5 at the plate; teammate Corall Hjert added three hits in five at-bats in the win.
Terrace’s Ashley Fitzgerald went 3-for-4 to lead the Hawk offense, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the Grizzlies.
With the loss, Terrace fell to 11-5 in the Wesco League South Conference, tied with the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors for third place. The Hawks and the Warriors meet in a crucial match-up on Monday, May 9, at Edmonds-Woodway High School; first pitch is slated for 4 p.m.
