Many of the spring sports teams of Mountlake Terrace High School saw action on Tuesday with the Hawks coming away with mixed results.
The Mountlake Terrace baseball team celebrated Senior Day with a 10-0 skunking of Shorecrest in a Wesco 3A South matchup that went six innings at Mountlake Terrace High School. Terrace senior Ben Reijonen pitched a six-inning one hitter with seven strikeouts to earn the victory. Jared Maxfield went 3-for-3 with two RBI’s to lead the Hawk offense.

The Hawk softball team fell to the Wesco North leader Everett Seagulls 16-6 in six innings. Everett used a big nine-run third inning to grab a lead that they would not relinquish and push their current winning streak to nine games. Hawks Jazz Zenk, Ashley Fitzgerald and Cassandra Cariker all had multiple hits in the matchup, but it wasn’t enough against the hot Seagulls.
On the courts, the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors defeated an undermanned Mountlake Terrace squad 5-2. The Hawks No. 2 singles’ player Tina Liu missed the match due to illness.
The Meadowdale Mavericks boys soccer team salvaged a 2-2 tie against Mountlake Terrace with a Stewart Smith penalty kick in extra time in a Wesco 3A rivalry match at Edmonds Stadium. Hawk Gavin Scott was whistled for a foul in the 18-yard box during the two-minutes of extra time at the end of the second half to set up the game-tying goal by Smith. The teams had to settle for the tie as neither could score in the 10-minute overtime period.
