The Mountlake Terrace Hawks girls brought home their best results in years from the WIAA State Girls Swimming & Diving Championships, held Friday and Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.

The Hawks placed 19th as a team in the 2A team standings, up from the 22nd place that the 2012 squad earned at the 3A state championships.

Junior Tiffany Vuong swam to a seventh place finish in the 2A 50-Yard Freestyle race on Saturday, the best individual placement for a Hawk at state since Riley Morgan finished fifth in the same event in 2012.

Vuong also placed 16th in the 2A 100-Yard Freestyle competition at this year’s state meet in addition to helping the Hawks’ 2A 200-Yard Medley Relay team race to a 14th-place finish.

Terrace qualified seven swimmers for the girls state championships; the other Hawks to compete were Bre Enriquez, Emma Van Hooser, Carly Stave, Angelina Ho and Rubina Matevosyan. Enriquez earned a 14th place finish in the 2A 100-Yard Backstroke and a 15th place finish in the 2A 200-Yard Individual Medley; Hooser, Stave, Ho and Matevosyan teamed up for a 19th place finish in the 2A 200-Yard Freestyle Relay.
