Mountlake Terrace found out Wednesday night just why the Glacier Peak girls basketball team is currently ranked third in the Associated Press Washington State 3A poll as the Grizzlies rolled to an easy 62-15 victory at Glacier Peak High School.
The Hawks jumped out to a surprising 4-0 lead, but Glacier Peak answered with a 17-0 run to take the lead for good.
Senior Sadie Mensing led the game in scoring with 13 points as eight Grizzlies contributed in a balanced scoring attack. Only three Hawks were able to get on the scoreboard; Jasmine Zucker was the team’s top scorer with seven points.
While Mountlake Terrace (0-3 in Wesco 3A action, 2-9 overall) returns to action on Friday, Jan. 9, with a home date against Shorecrest, Glacier Peak (4-0, 12-0) has almost a full week to prepare for their big showdown with the No. 1 3A team in the AP state rankings, undefeated Lynnwood. The Grizzlies will face Lynnwood on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at Lynnwood High School.
