The Mountlake Terrace girls cross country team flexed its muscles and showed its strength Saturday as the squad finished second in the 15-team South Whidbey Invitational at Langley.

Terrace was the top-placing 3A school at the event as 4A Issaquah took home the team title.

On the boys’ side, the Hawks grabbed 13^th place in their 17-team competition.

Leading the MTHS girls’ squad was sophomore Katherine Gustafson, who placed seventh in the girls individual results, completing the 5000 meter course in 19 minutes 48.69 seconds. Other Hawk finishers included Ella Schroth, 10^th place, with a time of 19:58.54; Katherine Walter, 14^th, 20:23.18; and Jessica Ong, 20^th, 20:48.56.

Issaquah placed their five scoring runners in the top 12 to earn their winning score of 35 points.

Daniel Medhane was the top finisher for the Terrace boys’ team, placing 55^th in a time of 18:04.50.
