The Mountlake Terrace Hawks got off to a strong start in their boys basketball matchup against Puyallup on Saturday, leading the Vikings 16-13 after the first quarter. But the lead was short-lived as Puyallup took control in the second quarter and went on to a 55-38 victory over the Hawks.
Mountlake Terrace had no answer for the Vikings’ 6-3 junior Tony Gutierrez, who led all scorers in the game with 19 points. Gabe Altenberger topped the scoring chart for the Hawks with 11 points.
The game was part of the day-long Muscle Milk Preview event that featured eight prep basketball tilts at Highline Community College in Des Moines.
