Prep boys basketball: Mountlake Terrace upset bid denied by Arlington

Mountlake Terrace put together its best overall team performance so far this year but it fell just short of an early season upset.

The Hawks lost to the undefeated Arlington Eagles 62-60 Tuesday night in a non-conference boys basketball game at Arlington High School.

Mountlake Terrace (2-4) had a chance for the surprise win in the waning moments, but a three-point shot attempt by junior Gabe Altenberger with two seconds left missed.

Altenberger led the Hawks with 15 points; Derek Anyimah scored 11 and Shimron Masih added 10. Donavan Sellgren scored a game-high 16 points in the Arlington (5-0) victory.
