Prep boys basketball: Hawks defeat Royals 63-48

Jumping out to an early 15-5 lead, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks had no trouble sending the visiting Lynnwood Royals to their eleventh straight loss 63-48 in a Wesco League South Conference boys basketball game played at Mountlake Terrace High School on Tuesday.

The Royals were able to close the gap to 15-10 by the end of the first quarter, but that’s as close as they could come as the Hawks pushed their conference record to 5-2, 11-4 overall.

Sophomore Khree Armstead led Terrace in scoring with 15 points. Derek Anyimah scored 14 points while Gabe Altenberger added 10 points. Lynnwood’s Tanner Mack scored a game-high 18 points while Bryce Milne tallied 10 points for the Royals.
With the victory Mountlake Terrace remained a game behind South conference leader Edmonds-Woodway (6-1 in division play), an 80-65 winner over Meadowdale Tuesday night. Terrace and E-W meet on Friday in a critical Wesco League South matchup at Edmonds-Woodway High School; tip-off is set for 7:15 p.m.
