Prep basketball: Mountlake Terrace boys and girls teams fall Friday night

Both the Mountlake Terrace boys and girls basketball teams struggled Friday night, losing games by big margins in non-conference tilts.

The visiting Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks scored the first nine points of the game and then used a big second quarter, outscoring the Hawks 20-7, on their way to a 68-43 victory in boys hoops action at Mountlake Terrace High School.

Two Hawks scored in double figures — Derek Anyimah with 14 points and Gabe Altenberger with 11 — but it wasn’t enough to overcome M-P’s offensive attack that saw nine Tomahawks get on the scoreboard.

The Mountlake Terrace Lady Hawks were ambushed early in their road game at Kamiak High School, being outscored 29-6 in the first quarter, and eventually succumbed to the Knights 60-32. MountlakeTerrace was only able to muster 13 points through three quarters against Kamiak before coming up with 19 in the fourth quarter, well after the outcome of the game was decided.

Both the Mountlake Terrace boys and girls squads see action against the Lynnwood Royals on Saturday, Dec. 6, in a rare home doubleheader. The Lady Hawks tipoff their game at 5:15 p.m., while the boys face their counterparts from Lynnwood at 7:15 p.m.
