The Mountlake Terrace Hawks overcame some shaky pitching by pounding out 11 hits and scoring 12 runs to defeat the Shorecrest Scots 12-6 in a Wesco League South Conference match-up played Tuesday at Shorecrest High School.

Hawk pitchers issued 15 walks but kept the Scots off the scoreboard after the third inning, giving the Terrace offense time to carry the squad to victory. With the score knotted at 6-6 after three innings, the Hawks scored runs in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings to grab the win.

Terrace senior Alex Hussey continued his hot-hitting spring by going 2-for-4 Tuesday with four RBIs. Hussey is hitting .353 for the season. Junior Adam Lorraine went 3-for-5 against Scot pitching on Tuesday with two RBIs and is now hitting .340 for the 2016 season.

In other Terrace sports results from Tuesday, the softball team ran into a red-hot Everett Seagulls squadat Lincoln Field in Everett. The Seagulls shutout the Hawks 6-0 behind the pitching of senior Sydney Taggart; Sammy Ruiz was saddled with the loss for Terrace.

The winless MTHS girls’ tennis team went down to a 6-1 defeat against host Edmonds-Woodway on Tuesday. Senior Tina Liu picked up the only match victory for the Hawks, a straight set 6-0, 6-0 blanking of the Warriors’ Nicole Ung.

On the soccer pitch, the Hawks got past the Meadowdale Mavericks 2-1 in a 3A Wesco League match played at Lynnwood High School.
