City of Mountlake Terrace Police Chief Greg Wilson administered the oath of office to new Police Sergeant Chuck Elrod and new Police Commander Kevin Pickard during the Oct. 6 City Council meeting.
After serving in the Navy, a friend convinced Elrod that he needed to be a Police Officer. He became a reserve officer and then served as a Police Officer for the City of Mountlake Terrace for over seven years. Officer Elrod was a SWAT team member and motorcycle officer. He left the department to pursue other opportunities and returned to serve an additional five years.
“Officer Elrod has served the department with a solid foundation of experience and a reputation for dedication and service. We look forward to his contributions to the department and community as a Police Sergeant,” Wilson said.
In 1993, Pickard graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from California State University at Fullerton and moved to Washington State to accept a job with the City of Mountlake Terrace Police Department. He served as a patrol officer, accreditation manager, school resource officer, detective, and bicycle patrol. Officer Pickard was promoted to Sergeant in 2006 and Special Services Sergeant in 2009.
Prior to his service with Mountlake Terrace, Pickard was a Police Officer with the City of Laguna Beach, California. He served as a patrol officer, juvenile officer, burglary investigations unit, grand theft auto unit, and was the first DARE Officer.
