35-year-old Everett man driving a 19-foot motor home was arrested late Saturday afternoon in Mountlake Terrace after leading Edmonds police on a low-speed chase following a road rage incident.

According to Edmonds police spokesman Sgt. Shane Hawley, at 4:41 p.m. Saturday an Edmonds police officer observed the motor home driver banging on the window of a car stopped at 9th Avenue and Main Street. The suspect got back into the motor home and headed eastbound on Main Street, with the police officer in pursuit.

The suspect didn’t stop even though the officer had his lights and sirens on, Hawley said. The pursuit, which “barely reached 30 miles per hour,” he noted, continued through the Five Corners roundabout where Main Street becomes 212th Street Southwest, across Highway 99, and through Lynnwood and Mountlake Terrace.

According to police, when the suspect reached a spike strip that Lynnwood police has laid down at the intersection of 212th Street Southwest and 44th Avenue West, he pulled into the Mountlake Terrace Mini-Mart, where he exited the motor home and screamed at police to shoot him. Officers were able to subdue the suspect with a Taser and took him into custody at 4:58 p.m., Hawley said. Mountlake Terrace police also responded to assist, he added.

The man will be booked into Snohomish County Jail on a charge of eluding police.
