Police Activity Near Cedar Way Elementary and Mint Grove

This afternoon around 2pm there was a burglary attempt at a home just east of Cedar Way Elementary School in Mountlake Terrace. A resident, who was home at the time, heard someone checking to see if their door knob was unlocked. The resident looked out the window and saw a hooded person running away.

Police were called and set up a containment in the area to try and track the subject with dogs. The track was not able to locate the subject.

Police didn’t come away empty handed, though. While the dog and handler were in the area a person working on a home was acting very suspicious. A check on the individual came back as showing him wanted. Police took the individual in to custody.

This afternoon MLT PD also responded to a call about a fight in the Mint Grover neighborhood near 44th Ave and 221st St SW. There was a large group of kids watching that a witness said fled when the police showed up. There appeared to be an assault, but the victim was not cooperative and did not want to press charges.
