New Playground Equipment to be Installed at Cedar Way this Saturday – Volunteers Wanted

Remember last winter when we were constantly hassling you to vote for Cedar Way Elementary to win a Pepsi grant? Well, as you probably know, they ended up winning the $50,000 grant and the day is finally approaching when everyone will eb able to see the new equipment. Volunteers have been hard at work preparing the site for the installation which will happen this Saturday, July 23.

The Cedar Way PTO is looking for volunteers to help with the playground equipment installation:

Our old playground equipment is GONE!! And the safety fencing is up! The playground build on Saturday, July 23rd is not too far away and we still need your help!

Even if you don’t feel particularly handy or mechanical we need all levels of support. For assembling of equipment this may mean simply screwing on a bolt, hooking on play webbing or using special tools. We need:

Help assembling equipment (instructions, training and tools provided);
Help moving wood chips;
Help coordinating and serving food/drinks;
Help checking in volunteers and getting paperwork;
Help setting up shade (think positive people!) tents;
Donations of breakfast food/snacks/drinks;
And more!

Please contact Julianne Davidson at davidsonclan@hotmail.com? to sign up! We have 2 main shifts, although we welcome any time people can give. Start times:

7:30am – set up food/drink; registration table set up

8:00am to 12:00pm – First Shift

11:00am to 3/4:00pm – Second Shift

2:30/3:00pm – Wood chip installation

Mayor Jerry Smith clears the old wood chips to make room for the new playground equipment
  1. Being a former student, I’m glad to see the Cedar Way Elementary get new equipment.  Is that the Mayor Jerry Smith volunteering his time, labor, money and heavy equipment?  Thank you Mayor for doing so much for your MLT community.  My family, friends, and neighbors appreciate all the things you do for our MLT community!  Very honorable to volunteer your time & effort for such a great cause.  We will thank you personally during the Tour De Terrace Festival next weekend.
