The Mountlake Terrace Police Department will be sponsoring a free personal and firearm safety seminar next month.
The goal of the seminar is to offer information and resources to residents who want to learn to identify and safely avoid dangerous encounters. The department will also discuss firearms related topics so participants are informed about legal issues and responsible gun ownership.
Mountlake Terrace Police Sgt. Pat Lowe will teach the class. He has more than 20 years of experience as a law enforcement officer with a background in patrol, detective, patrol sergeant and special services sergeant duties.
This is not a physical self-defense class. Discussion topics include: personal awareness, how to confront a criminal, workplace violence, concealed carry and active shooters.
The class is free, but interested residents should reserve a seat by contacting Megan Johnson at the Mountlake Terrace Police Department. You can email her here or call her at 425-670-8260.
The interactive course will be held on March 23 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Mountlake Terrace City Council chambers, located at 6100 219th St. SW., Ste. 200.
Participants will also be eligible for giveaways of personal safety gear and gun accessories.
