MLTnews presents the Dog of the Week, Sophie, from MLT-based Forever Home Dog Rescue.
Here’s her story:
My name is Sophie. I am a 2 year old Aussie/Basset mix. I was born blind and deaf, but I don’t mind a bit. I love life!
I love to run around my foster home’s back yard and play with the other dogs in the house. I also love to be a lap dog, as you can see by my pictures. I came here from Oregon when my family had to surrender me after they lost their home and had to move into a place that doesn’t take dogs.
I’m housebroken, do well on stairs and do very well getting around once I figure out where everything is. I’m current on my shots, spayed, microchipped and flea/tick treated. My adoption fee is $200.
Forever Home founder Diane Swanberg notes that shelter where Sophie was taken was going to euthanize her due to her disabilities, “but contacted rescue first to see what we could do. Sophie is an incredible dog! She gets along with all the other dogs at her foster home, loves to play and wrestle with them all the time. She is also quite the snuggler. She likes to sneak up on your lap, give kisses and fall asleep. Her sister was adopted several months ago and she has transitioned very well.”
If you are interested in adopting Sophie, here’s the process:
- Fill out the Adoption Application and email it to info@foreverhomedogrescue.org
- Your application will be screened and you will receive a phone call with more information.
- A Meet and Greet will be set up. All members of your household (dogs and humans) must attend the meet and greet.
- Pay the adoption fee, sign the adoption contract and receive the dog’s health records
