No one was injured in a fire that broke out in the garage of a Mountlake Terrace home Sunday night.
The fire was reported around 8 p.m. in a single-story home in the 5400 block of 230th St. SW. The man who rents the house safely exited the house.
“Flames were coming from the side and back of the attached garage when the first firefighters arrived,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1, which provides fire and emergency medical services in the City of Mountlake Terrace. “The fire spread to the attic above the living area of the house.”
Firefighters from Fire District 1, Lynnwood and Shoreline responded and had the fire under control within about 25 minutes.
Most of the fire damage was in the garage and attic. There was smoke damage inside the living area of the house. Support 7 and Red Cross responded to assist the renter who was displaced by the fire.
Fire investigators are waiting until tomorrow when they can return to the scene in daylight to continue their efforts to determine how the fire started.
