In their final home game of the year, Coach Andrew Watters honored the seniors on the MTHS baseball squad by putting them all in the starting lineup, including regular non-starters Connor Clausen, Forrest Hussey, Lucas Pope and Torin Webster. The move paid off on the scoreboard as Terrace jumped all over the visiting Everett Seagulls early and walked away with a 15-0 victory in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy ruling.
Dominic DeMeiro got the Hawks on the board with a two-run double in the first inning, the first of 12 runs scored by Terrace in the first two innings. Webster added to the offensive barrage with a two-run triple in the first.
Clausen picked up the victory with five innings of shut-out pitching.
The win was Terrace’s eighth in a row and gives the team a final regular season record of 10-7 in Wesco league play, 12-8 overall. The Hawks open the post-season Saturday, May 4, in double-elimination 3A District 1 play against the 13-7 Ferndale Golden Eagles at Ferndale. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. You can find the 3A District 1 bracket here.
