A pair of Mountlake Terrace Hawk seniors is now featured on the November Athletes Highlights poster on display in businesses and community centers around the city.
Hailey White, from the Hawks’ girls soccer team, and Jeremy Ansdell, from the Terrace boys tennis squad, have been chosen by their coaches for the honor.
White earned the praise of Alvin White, coach of the Hawk girls soccer squad, who made the senior a team captain midway through the 2016 season. “I made Hailey a captain when Maddie Powers broke her leg,” White said.
“Hailey earned her position not only as a starter but as a leader on this team,” White continued. “She is respectful, hard-working, fearless and never quits. I have the utmost respect for Hailey.”
Hawk boys tennis Coach Alberto Ramirez focused on both Ansdell’s performance on the court and his character in selecting the senior for the honor. “Jeremy has been playing number one on the team since his sophomore year,” Ramirez said. “This season he finished undefeated in Wesco (League) competition.”
“Jeremy has been co-captain of the team the last three years. He is dedicated and a hard-working player; a good leader of the tennis team,” Ramirez added.
