The League of Women Voters of Snohomish County is accepting nominations for its Democracy in Action award.
The award is presented to a woman, or group of women, or group of women and men with Snohomish County ties. It recognizes “single or multiple extraordinary, outstanding achievement (s) or for long-term commitment to enhancing democracy in Snohomish County.” Examples of service are serving as an elected official at the local, state or national level; advancing issues of voters’ rights; advancing issues that follow the League’s positions in such areas as natural resources, immigration, international relations, education and health care etc.; and promoting women for future citizenship development.
Nominations can come from both individuals and organizations; self-nominations are not accepted. The League Selection Committee will research the nominees and then recommend a slate to the current League Board of Directors for final vote.
The annual recognition award will include presentation of a plaque recognizing the individual(s)’ achievements during a public event.
