Nominate Properties for the 3rd Annual Evergreen Awards

The City of Mountlake Terrace Evergreen Awards Program recognizes property owners who take pride in their properties. Do you know of a property worthy of an award? The city invites you to nominate properties that make you proud to live or do business in Mountlake Terrace. Nominations close on May 24.

The Evergreen Awards program was established to build community pride, enhance the city’s image, and promote conservation. It has five categories of awards and nominees are judged against properties within each neighborhood: Cedar Terrace, Gateway, Lake Ballinger, Melody Hill, Cascade View and Town Center.

Best Maintained Awards reflect the efforts of owners or occupants whose high standards for building and yard maintenance contribute to the character of our neighborhoods and city. The Transformation Awards recognize neglected properties renovated to become assets to the community. Recognize those hidden gems that have made significant improvements, especially over the past year.

The Sustainable Award honors property owners who best utilize green features such as solar heating, natural cooling and native landscaping to help protect and preserve the environment. If you have a sustainable home and/or landscaping, nominate yourself and describe these improvements so the city can contact you to take photos of your sustainable features.

“This program has been highly successful in promoting pride in our community and showcasing Mountlake Terrace as a desirable place to live and do business,” stated Community Relations Director Virginia Olsen. “We really appreciate our property owners who take extraordinary care in maintaining and beautifying their homes and businesses. They add tremendous value to our community.”

Properties being marketed for sale and previous winners are not eligible. Residents and business owners may nominate their own properties or others that stand out in our community.

Nomination forms are available at City of Mountlake Terrace facilities or they can be downloaded at www.cityofmlt.com. Properties will be photographed for judging and awards will be presented at a recognition event in September.
