The transformation of Mountlake Terrace’s Firefighters Memorial Park at 39th Avenue West and 228th Street Southwest continued this past week as the installation of new swings was completed. The swings were just the latest addition to a park that has seen numerous improvements since a fire station was torn down on the property in April 2012.
Eagle Scout candidates and volunteer community groups have joined with city crews to make improvements to the park over the past few months. The city hopes that more projects, specifically to the southern portion of the one-acre park, can be completed this year.
Snohomish County Fire District 1 built a new Fire Station 18 in December 2010 in Brier, making the old station obsolete. The station was razed and the park, which had been limited to space behind the old fire station, was expanded
So happy & appreciative to have these improvements made to the park! Living in this area for years & it’s so nice to have a nice park in the area to take the kids! Thanks for all the hard work!
