A new photo exhibit will open at the Mountlake Terrace Library on Tuesday.

Photography by Gena Reebs will be on display for the month of March starting on March 1.

Gena Reebs was born and raised in Kansas and moved to the Emerald City many years ago. After retiring in 2008, Reebs took up photography full-time. She traveled the world shooting colorful photos, including her Hobbit Shire image series from New Zealand.

Reebs’ art photos have been exhibited and sold in numerous art shows, including the 2015 Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show. Her images have won awards, including second place in photography at the 2015 Kenmore Art Show and honorable mention at the 2015 Shoreline Arts Festival. She also received the 2015 Print Image of the Year at Puget Sound Camera Club (PSCC) and won the 2014-2015 Ray Thorsteinson Memorial Award for Photojournalism presented by PSCC.

Last year, her distinctive metal prints were displayed at the Gallery at Town Center in Lake Forest Park and at a one-woman show at Garden Essentia in Shoreline.

Reebs is vice president and education director for PSCC and she also volunteers as the Photography Chair for the Shoreline Arts Festival and is co-facilitator of a small pure perception photography group in Seattle. A selection of her images may be viewed at her website.

The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission presents the exhibit. The commission oversees the library exhibits as part of its mission to promote cultural events in the community.

The show runs through March 31 at the Mountlake Terrace Library, Mondays through Thursdays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. The Mountlake Terrace Library is located at 23300 58th Ave. W.
