New Coffeeshop in Mountlake Terrace

There is definitely not a lack of drive-thru coffee stands in Mountlake Terrace but when it comes to finding a place to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee, there aren’t many choices. There is Starbucks, but if you prefer a place with a little more personality and local flavor, you’re out of luck. We generally go to Ladro on 196th in Lynnwood or Walnut St. Coffee in Edmonds.

There’s a new coffeeshop in Mountlake Terrace located at 44th and 212th called Urban City Coffee. Urban City Coffee roasts their coffee in Everett and it appears as if this is their first retail location.

I had a chance to stop by the other night and was pleasantly surprised with the place. The coffee was pretty good. I ordered an almond latte. It was a little heavy on the syrup but other than that I have no complaints. The place has modern decor: Ikea furniture, a metal surround on the bar, open black ceiling and stained concrete floors. There is seating for maybe 15 people and seems like it would be a good place to come with some friends. They have a small bakery case with cookies, muffins and pastries.

Their public wifi wasn’t working when I stopped by but they assured me it would be working in the next couple days.

Stop by Urban City Coffee and support your local Mountlake Terrace business. One comment I got on twitter was that the person hoped Urban City Coffee would at least take business away form the bikini drive-thru across the street in Lynwood.
