The Mountlake Terrace High School wrestling team came up short in their opening matches of the season Friday night, losing to Edmonds-Woodway 60-15, then to Lynnwood 41-24.

The double dual meet, held at Edmonds-Woodway High School, featured all four of the high schools in the Edmonds School District. In the other matches, Meadowdale beat Lynnwood 45-36, and Edmonds-Woodway defeated Meadowdale 52-25.

The Hawks were forced to forfeit many of their weight class matches Friday night as a number of their wrestlers were ineligible to compete due to practice requirements, explained head coach Kanoe Vierra.

Many of the Mountlake Terrace wrestlers will take part in the Big Dog Tournament at Everett’s Cascade High School on Saturday, Dec. 1, beginning at 9 a.m.
