MTHS winter sports season launched during Jam Session XXVI

A big turnout of Mountlake Terrace Hawk alumni and basketball fans enjoyed a night of hoops on Tuesday at Jam Session XXVI, the tipoff for the winter sports season at Terrace.

Intrasquad scrimmages of the Hawks’ boys and girls varsity basketball teams, an alumni hoops game, a Terrace wrestling exhibition match, a performance by the Hawks’ cheer squad and plenty of music and contests took place at the event. MLTnews was a Jam Session XXVI sponsor.

While Jam Session is now in its 26th year, it was the first for new Terrace girls basketball coach Nick Sherrill.

“I thought it was fun,” Sherrill said of the event. “I didn’t really know what to expect, honestly to tell you the truth … I’ve heard a lot about Jam Session. But it was a good time to showcase what we’ve been working on at practice.”

Members of the Hawks’ girls team see their first competitive action against an opponent Tuesday, Dec. 3, when they host the Ingraham Rams. The Terrace boys open their 2019-2020 season at home Thursday, Dec. 5, against the Squalicum Storm.
