The boys and girls basketball teams at Mountlake Terrace High School take the court on Tuesday, Nov. 26, for Jam Session XX, an event that will tip off the 2013-2014 season with fun, music, contests and giveaways. The program runs from 5:30-9 p.m. at the MTHS gymnasium; admission is $5 (only $3 if you bring a canned food donation).
Jam Session includes basketball scrimmages by both the MTHS boys and girls basketball squads. Select players will participate in slam dunk and three-point shooting contests. The MTHS cheerleaders and the school’s mascot Herky will be on hand, as will a hip hop DJ spinning the tunes. Spectators will be eligible for contests, prizes and giveaways throughout the event.
The boys team is coming off a successful 2012-2013 season, finishing with a record of 23-4 and grabbing fourth place in the WIAA 3A State Basketball Tournament. The girls squad, led by first-year coach Zach Wilde, returns a number of key starters and hopes to improve on their 7-12 record of last season.
Jam Session XX is sponsored by the Hawkeye, MLTnews, Sound Music Publications, Sorelli Pizza, Fitness 19, A-Team Driving School and HBN/Hawk TV.
