MTHS student assaulted during alleged robbery attempt in boys bathroom Tuesday

Edmonds School District spokesman DJ Jakala provided us with the following letter detailing the assault of a Mountlake High School student in the boys bathroom Tuesday:

Dear Mountlake Terrace High Families,

I want to provide you with the facts regarding an incident that occurred just before lunchtime today, Tuesday, Dec. 4. A junior, male student was in a boys’ bathroom when a senior, male student physically assaulted him during an alleged robbery attempt. The victim suffered injuries and was transported to an area hospital. There was no weapon involved and the students did not know each other prior to this occurring. Mountlake Terrace Police responded quickly and their investigation resulted in the arrest of the student who allegedly committed this act. We take this very seriously; the safety of all students is of our utmost importance. An event such as this is an isolated incident in our school community and we will be discussing with students how we can all further improve our effort to make this an even safer learning environment. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 425-431-7777 or schwabg@edmonds.wednet.edu.

Sincerely,

Greg Schwab
Principal
