Mountlake Terrace High School took safety precautions on Thursday after a female staff member received threatening texts and phone calls from someone she knows.

The victim reported the threats to the school’s administration. In a letter sent to the school’s staff and families, Principal Greg Schwab said the threats were “not specific,” but administrators still called 9-1-1 as a precaution.

Mountlake Terrace police officers interviewed the victim and began investigating. The school also reduced the number of entrances into campus to increase security.

“We take all threats to our school community seriously and appreciate your understanding,” Schwab said in the letter.

Deputy Police Chief Pete Caw said the situation is a private domestic dispute.

“At this point, we are investigating further,” he said.
