The Mountlake Terrace Hawks baseball and girls tennis teams both lost Friday afternoon in Wesco League non-conference match-ups. The baseball squad fell to Cascade 5-0, while the tennis squad dropped its match to Stanwood 6-1.

The baseball team lost its second game of the season as starting pitcher Jason Shevenko gave up two runs early, and the Hawks were unable to provide any run support. Terrace has struggled at the plate in its opening two ballgames, scoring just once in 14 innings. In contrast, the Hawk JV squad is 2-0 after its first two outings, averaging 13 runs per game.

In girls tennis action, Hawk Nicki Bouche raised her personal season record to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat of Stanwood’s Alessia Piazzi. But the Terrace squad was hurt by a number of notable absences from the team on the first day of a three-day weekend for Edmonds School District students and had to forfeit two doubles matches on Friday.
