MTHS September Students of the Month

Each month Mountlake Terrace High School selects two students of the month to be recognized for their accomplishments and achievements. September’s students of the month are Tanner Gregory and Shelby Hennum.

Tanner Gregory
Student Name: Tanner P. Gregory
Clubs & Activities: HAWKEYE Section Editor and Copy Editor (2007-2011), Key Club Public Relations Officer (2008-2011), Hawk Study Club Tutor (2008-2010), LINK CREW (2009-2011), S.P.I.R.T. Council Officer (2008-2011)
ASB: ASB President (2010-2011), ASB Class Officer (2007-2010)
Athletics: Freshmen football
Community Service: Volunteer – Orion Center in Seattle, Monthly from January 2008 to the present – cook and serve meals, monthly, sanitizing and housekeeping.
Culminating Project: He has narrowed down his culminating project to one of three options. Either something related to high school journalist’s rights and laws surrounding that. Or, learning guitar, or potentially doing some Motivational Speeches or assemblies.
Future Educational Goals: He wants to attend WWU and get his secondary education master’s and a master’s in Psychology. He wishes to return to Mountlake Terrace High School in no less than 10 years and become a teacher of either history of psychology. After a few more years potentially become the ASB Advisory or Newspaper Advisor.
Future Career Goals: High school teacher, professional graphic designer, or professional photographer (on the side).

Shelby Hennun
Student Name: Shelby Hennum
Clubs & Activities: TATU (Teens against Tobacco Use)
ASB: Interhigh Rep
Athletics: JV Volleyball 9th-11th Grade
Honors: English 9 honors
Community Service: 350 hours community service at Alderwood Boys and Girls club summer camp counselor in training. Summer of 9th and 10th grade 200 Hours Wildlife leader 8th-10th Grade
Culminating Project: She wants to job shadow a registered nurse and explore certain tasks they have to do to help different kinds of patients.
Future Educational Goals: She plans to attend a 4-year university and go to nursing school.
Future Career Goals: She hopes to become an RN and work with cancer patients or the birth center
Anything else we should know?: She takes a Healthcare professions class for 2 periods at Edmonds-Woodway High School, with completion of the course she can take a test to become certified nursing assistant once she graduates high school.
