The Mountlake Terrace Music Department is gearing up for a number of big trips this year and is hoping for some public support to help them get to all their destinations.
“This year the jazz band will travel to Savannah, Georgia, for a jazz competition, the whole band program will be traveling to Disneyland to perform in April, and again travel to a competition at Silverwood Theme Park in May,” said MTHS Music Booster Club President Sherrill Leppich. “What great opportunities for all these fabulously talented students and the Director Mr. Faul.”
In addition, the MTHS Jazz 1 recently recorded its audition tape for consideration to this year’s Essentially Ellington competition in New York later this year.
“We will be having some upcoming fundraisers to help raise funds to offset the costs of all these trips,” Leppich noted.
The next MTHS Music Boosters fundraiser is set for Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Five Guys Burgers and Fries in Lynnwood, where 10 percent of selected sales at the restaurant will be donated to the music club; to be eligible for the restaurant donation you must bring in the fundraiser flyer, available here.
MTHS Jazz 1 has also been invited to take part again in the Starbucks Hot Java Cool Jazz benefit concert at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle. The 19th annual edition of this event takes place on Apr. 25, with tickets going on sale soon at all Starbucks outlets.
