Mountlake Terrace High School Band Director Darin Faul in the April 1 band concert led the school’s Jazz 1 band in a tribute to Forest Jackson, the 2011 MTHS grad who was stabbed to death March 29 at a Mountlake Terrace apartment complex. Jackson was a four-year member of the music department while attending MTHS in 2007-2011.
As the final performance of the concert, the Jazz 1 band played Swingin’ the Blues, a song performed by the 2010-2011 Jazz 1 band at the Essential Ellington Festival in New York. Jackson was a member of that band, and received recognition at the festival for the solo he performed in the song.
