Girls basketball: Hawks start slow, finish strong with win in opener

MTHS basketball logoA slow start in their first game of the season didn’t last long, as the Mountlake Terrace High School girls basketball team found their rhythm, picked up the pace and finished strong Wednesday night. The Hawks picked up the victory in their opener 65-44 over the Cascade Bruins at Cascade High School in Everett.

After falling behind 25-14 almost midway through the second quarter, Terrace climbed back to tie the game at halftime 32-32. Then in the second half the Hawks held Cascade to just 12 points and pulled away easily for the win.

The Hawks’ busy opening week continues on Thursday with a home game against Sultan, then the girls travel to Yakima on Saturday for a non-league match-up against Davis in the Sundome.
