MTHS girls ranked 4th, boys 9th in latest AP state basketball polls

MTHSHawks logoIn this week’s AP Washington state prep basketball rankings, the Mountlake Terrace Hawks remained at the No. 4 spot in the girls 3A rankings released on Wednesday. The Hawks (11-3) barely edged out Glacier Peak (14-2) for the fourth-place ranking.

The rankings are compiled on a weekly basis by a panel of sports writers in the state. Terrace received 75 votes while Glacier Peak received 71 votes. In addition to Glacier Peak, the only other Wesco League teams to receive votes in the poll were the Shorecrest Scots with 24 votes and the Everett Seagulls with one vote.

Terrace will take on the Meadowdale Mavericks on Thursday, Jan. 23, 7:15 p.m. at Mountlake Terrace High School, a game that can be viewed live on the Sound Live Sports Network.

In the girls 4A rankings, the Lynnwood Royals kept its No.-1 ranking, a position it has held all season.

In the boys 3A rankings, the MTHS Hawks stayed in the top 10 with a No.-9 state ranking despite losses to No. 3 Stanwood and last year’s Oregon state 6A runner-up Central Catholic over the past week.
