The Mountlake Terrace girls basketball team came up short Friday night, losing to Shorewood 49-42. It was the Hawks’ fourth straight lost after their season-opening victory on Nov. 29. Shorewood improved their record to 5-1, 3-0 in the 3A Wesco South.
Leading by only one point after three quarters, the T-Birds pulled away in the fourth, outscoring the Hawks 14-8 in the final eight minutes.
Mountlake Terrace (0-2 in the league, 1-4 overall) continued their struggles scoring, with their 42 points Friday night being their lowest total in a game so far this season. Hawk sophomore Samantha Romanowski led all scorers with 26 points; Masha Shtikel led the T-Birds with 22 points.
The Hawks hit the road again for their next game Tuesday, Dec. 18, against another struggling squad, the Shorecrest Scots, who also has just one win on the season. The game at Shorecrest tips-off at 7:15 p.m.
