After a 30-point lost the night before, the Mountlake Terrace girls basketball team suffered another big defeat on Friday, losing to the state’s sixth-ranked 4A team, the Arlington Eagles, 57-20 at Arlington High School.
The Hawks played without usual starter Samantha Romanowski, and had to count on help from a few junior varsity players to round out a playable roster for the game.
Only three Hawks scored, with junior Maddy Kristjanson leading the squad with 12 points. Sophomore Nikkie Froehlich put up 6 points, while junior Kirsty Dale adding 2 points. The team went 8-30 from the field, shooting 26.7 percent, and was outrebounded in the game 34-12. Mountlake Terrace had more turnovers (22) than points.
The Hawks dropped to 0-5 in Wesco league play, 1-7 overall, while 4A Arlington improved to 4-0 in the league, 7-0 overall.
Mountlake Terrace is scheduled to compete in the King’s Christmas Tournament beginning Thursday, Dec. 28. The three-day tournament is hosted by 1A King’s High School of Shoreline, with all games played at Mike Martin gym, 330 N. 190th St.
