MTHS football team preparing for Shorewood minus three injured players

The Mountlake Terrace High School football team can make the district playoffs in November with wins in their final two games of the regular season, but they will have to do it without two key players out with major injuries.

The high school football career of senior linebacker Anfernee Calloway is over after he sustained a broken arm in the Oct. 12 game against Shorecrest. Also done for the season is sophomore running back and special teams’ specialist Ryan LaCasse, who broke a wrist during the Shorecrest game.

A third injury of note is to senior flanker/defensive back Mason Stone. “He is hobbling quite a bit,” said Hawk Head Coach Tony Umayam earlier in the week. The severity of the injury to his left ankle wasn’t clear; no decision has been made yet as to his availability for this Friday’s game against the Shorewood Thunderbirds.

A Hawk victory over the T-Birds Friday would set up an Oct. 26 matchup with Marysville-Getchell at 5 p.m. at Marysville-Pilchuck High School with a district playoff bid on the line.

The MTHS-Shorewood football game Friday at Shoreline Stadium can be viewed live on the Hawks Live Sports Network starting at 6:50 p.m. on MLTnews.com.
