MTHS football injuries continue to mount; tennis team loses to Shorecrest

MTHS logo 2Just one-third of the way through the 2013 season, the hardest-working members of the Mountlake Terrace High School football team may just be the medical trainers, as injuries on the squad continue to mount.

Terrace will face an undefeated Glacier Peak team on Friday, Sept. 27, without a couple key starters, a reoccurring theme for the Hawks this year. All-Wesco lineman Jevin Pahinui will miss a third straight game due to a foot injury; running back and defensive back Ryan Lacasse is listed as doubtful for Friday’s game.

Linebacker and back-up quarterback Tanner Munnis is home recovering from the broken leg he suffered in the Sept. 20 game against Lynnwood. X-rays Munnis posted on Instagram show images of the metal rod secured to his broken right tibia by doctors at Harborview Medical Center on Sept. 21.

The MTHS-Glacier Peak game is being played at Veterans’ Memorial Stadium in Snohomish; the matchup will not be part of the Sound Live Sports Network lineup of live action on Friday. Hawk fans can watch the game live on the Snohomish Times Sports Network at stspn.com beginning at 7 p.m.

In Terrace’s only varsity competition on Wednesday, the boys tennis team was no match for the undefeated Shorecrest Scots, falling 7-0 at Kellogg Middle School. The squad will face Marysville-Getchell on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Mountlake Terrace High School. First serves are scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
