The Mountlake Terrace High School drama department is presenting its last production of the 2013-2014 school year this week with three performances of “Noises Off,” a 1982 comedy by English playwright Michael Frayn.
Performances are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, May 29-31, 7 p.m. each night at the Mountlake Terrace High School Theater, 21801-44th Ave. W. Admission is $5.
“Noises Off” depicts the comic unraveling of a theater troupe’s production of a play titled “Nothing On.” Despite the best efforts of the play’s director, the actors can’t get beyond on- and off-stage issues enough to put together a good rehearsal, let alone a good performance of the play. “Noises Off” exposes the different struggles of the production in three acts, a dress rehearsal, a backstage look at a matinee performance, and a full on-stage performance collapse.
The MTHS production of “Noises Off” has an ensemble cast of nine, with another dozen serving as tech crew. The MTHS drama department director is Jeannie Brzovic.
