The Mountlake Terrace High School doubles team of Nicki Bouche and Tina Liu are set to compete for the 3A District 1 Girls Tennis Doubles Championship after two wins on Tuesday. Bouche, a sophomore, and Liu, a freshman, will take on the tournament’s top-seeded team of Daniella Brengelmann and Francesca O-Malley of Shorewood for the district title.
Win or lose in the district championship match, Bouche and Liu have already qualified for the 3A state championships scheduled for May 24-25 in Kennewick.
To get to the district championship Bouche and Liu first defeated the Everett team of Adrienne Muramoto and Sierra Bove 6-0, 6-1 on Tuesday. In the semi-finals Bouche and Liu were victorious over Keegan Monson and Lauren Rutter of Shorecrest 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
The district championship will be a rematch of the 3A Wesco South Tournament championship last week, a match the Bouche and Liu lost 6-2, 6-3.
