MTHS broadcast journalists win awards

Mountlake Terrace High School’s Hawk Broadcasting Network (HBN) participated in the Washington Journalism Educators Association 2016 conference and competition on Saturday March 19th. The following Hawk TV journalists won awards:

– Javante Sims, Gene An, Josh Liddell, Chandra Kingsley, Skylar Schank, Stephanie Smith and James Gisle were awarded Excellent Video Broadcast-Sports for their work on projects related to the Sound Live Sports Network (SLSN), which live streams high school sports through a partnership between Mountlake Terrace High School and the My Neighborhood News Network (MLTnews, Lynnwood Today and My Edmonds News).

– Isaac Hain, Stephanie Smith, Skylar Schank, James Gisle and Esli Esponza- Guerrero were judged Superior for Video Broadcast-News for Hawk TV News, the high school’s daily news broadcasts.

“This is a great honor and thanks also goes out to all the students who make the announcements every day and the many crew members that make SLSN happen,” said Angelo Comeau, the MTHS teacher who oversees the school’s broadcast program.
